School Interview Checklist
School interviews can be a
bit intimidating. Here is a checklist to help you get through the process.
Granted not every school will ask the same question, but using this checklist
will help you be prepared for whatever they ask.
Be Prepared to answer...
Tell me a little about
yourself...
o Why do you want to go to this school?
o What are you thinking of as a possible major? Why?
o What is your greatest accomplishment?
o Is there a course you are taking or project that you’ve completed
of which you’re particularly proud?
o What do you see yourself doing in the future? Five years from now? Ten
years from now?
o Of the books you read this year, what was your favorite and why?
o How would you describe yourself to a stranger?
o What extracurricular activities are important to you?
o What is your worst fault?
o If you could interview someone (or have lunch with one special person),
dead or alive, who would it be and what would be your first question (why)?
o Who are your heroes and why?
o How would you spend $1 million in 24 hours?
Be prepared to ask
at least three questions...
o Why would you recommend this school?
o How would you describe life at this school?
o NOTE: Ask questions that cannot be answered by the school’s brochures!
Interview tips
o Do your homework—be prepared and know something about the school
before the interview.
o Ask questions.
o Dress conservatively.
o Be focused, appropriately enthusiastic, and confident.
o Thank the interviewer for the opportunity to learn more about the school.
o Follow up! Send a thank you note!
